Accreditation

To better serve our students, volunteers and donors, the Literacy Center is currently seeking accreditation from Proliteracy America.  Proliteracy is the largest non-governmental organization of adult basic education and literacy programs in the world.  Accreditation is a process that will enable the Literacy Center to conduct an assessment of strengths and weaknesses, develop and implement a plan to attain the standards, and document compliance with standards in preparation of a site visit.   The16 standards cover the following three areas:

  • Organizational Management
  • Student-centered Services, and
  • Instructor/Tutor Services

We are currently an affiliate of Proliteracy America and should complete the accreditation process and be fully accredited by late Spring 2009.
